Summer is here, Independence day is tomorrow and I can’t think of a better dish to go with all of it! Salsa is such a crowd pleaser and below I have posted a recipe for a refreshing and mildly spicy salsa dip that will leave you and your friends wanting more!
Ingredients
- 2 small tomatoes
- 1 white onion
- 1 green chili
- 1 lime
- 1 bunch of cilantro
- Sea salt
Directions
Finely chop 2 small, well ripened tomatoes and place them in a bowl along with the tomato juice.
Cut your onion in half, that should be all you need. Then chop it very finely. You don’t want to chunks to be too big because you don’t necessarily want to taste the onion, you just want to get some flavor from it. Then add them to the tomatoes.
For the greens, add one handful of finely chopped cilantro to the bowl.
Now for the green chili, this is where you get to control how spicy you want your salsa to be. Simply cut off the stem, split the chili in half lengthwise and scoop out the seeds. I finely chopped half of my chili and it left my salsa with great flavor but not too much bite. If you like your salsa on the hotter side, put in the whole chili or add some seeds.
Depending on how juicy your lime is, squeeze either half a lime’s worth of juice into the bowl or a whole lime. My lime was very firm and didn’t have much juice so I went ahead and squeezed out the whole lime. Don’t let the lime juice become too over powering, just add enough to get a hint of flavor.
Lastly, add a few pinches of salt for enhanced flavor.
It is as simple as that! Let me know what you think down below in the comments or on my Instagram at @girlgettinfit.
